An 8-year-old boy was shot in the Bronx Tuesday evening and is expected to survive his injuries.
The child was struck by gunfire in front of a building on Beekman Avenue in Mott Haven just after 5 p.m., police said.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Lincoln Medical Center via private means in stable condition.
Two persons of interest are in custody with charges pending, according to cops.
It was not immediately clear if the child was an intended target or an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet.
The boy was not the first child shot in the borough this summer.
A 5-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet in the back while she sat in a parked car in the Olinville section at the end of June.
