A “wrapped” body “in a state of decomposition” was hauled out of the water by fishermen off the coast of Massachusetts, according to reports.

The unnamed fishing vessel was working about 40 miles off the coast of Boston Friday morning when the crew discovered the body after reeling in the boat’s fishing nets, People reported.

The crew quickly reported the horrifying discovery to the US Coast Guard, but the Massachusetts State Police were the first to respond to the scene.

“The body, which was wrapped and in a state of decomposition, is now with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy purposes,” the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office told the outlet Sunday.

“No further information is available at this time.”

A disturbing photo obtained by TMZ shows the body, which appears to be bound around the arms with a rope or belt, lying on a blue tarp onboard the vessel.

The Coast Guard and the DA’s office said they are investigating.

The DA’s office told the outlet they were not able to confirm the name, age, or gender of the body, and a cause of death has yet to be revealed.

“No conclusions at this point,” officials said. “The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy. That may help provide some answers.”

The Post has contacted the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office for comment.

The gruesome discovery comes months after the body of a man was found weighed down with stones in the water just off Riverside Park in New York City.

In September, the corpse of the unidentified man – believed to be between his mid-30s to 40s – was discovered in the Hudson River at West 79th Street and Riverside Drive around 7:15 a.m.

Investigators were eyeing the case as suspicious, cops said at the time.

The body being pulled from the water in Boston also strikes similarity to when a fisherman reeled in a decomposed body from a Brooklyn pier.

The corpse, which police said was too decomposed to determine the identity, was found floating around Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn shortly before 4 p.m. on Jan. 2021.

Fisherman Edmond Stringa, of Queens, told The Post he went to the pier to fish on Monday but lost his hook when it got caught on something large.

He said he returned the next day with a stronger line and bigger hook only to reel in the decomposed body.

“It was really heavy. When I pulled it out a little bit, I saw the shoes, the pants,” he said.

“I thought it was something suspicious. I knew it wasn’t a fish.”
