An outbreak of random violence erupted in the subway overnight, in which violent thugs viciously beat one man over an innocent bump and a gang of crooks pummeled a man during a mugging that netted just $15, cops said.
At about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, a mob of six thieves accosted a 38-year-old man in the mezzanine of the Canal Street N, Q and R station.
The young suspects kicked and punched the victim, causing him to fall to the floor before the muggers made off with his wallet containing just $15, authorities said.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a bloody cut on his head, according to police and footage from the scene.
The violent youths fled and have not yet been caught.
Hours earlier, a 32-year-old man was standing on the J train platform at Fulton Street and Alabama Avenue in Brownsville when he accidentally bumped into another man, cops said.
The stranger lashed out and started swinging a “sharp object,” cutting the victim on his head and finger, police said.
The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect took off and no arrests have been made.
The city’s transit system has seen a dip in felony assaults on the rails so far this year, with 101 attacks reported through Sunday, compared to 117 during the same period in 2024, according to the latest data.
However, misdemeanor assaults have spiked, with 293 such crimes reported, compared to 274 during the same time last year, the statistics show.
