A sicko with 19 prior arrests was busted in the heinous attempted rape of a 70-year-old woman in The Bronx – after local vigilantes beat him so badly that he ended up in the hospital, according to cops and a report.
Oswaldo Ramos, 50, approached the senior from behind at Creston Avenue and East 184th Street in Fordham Heights around 1 p.m. Friday before attempting to sexually assault her, police said.
Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the perv scrambling to put his pants on after the attack.
The next day, vigilante neighbors spotted the wanted man nearby after apparently recognizing him from the released footage and took matters into their own hands, roughing him up to the point that he needed medical care, law-enforcement sources told NBC 4 New York.
An anonymous caller told detectives later that day that the crew of locals meted out street justice on the alleged sex fiend at Tiebout Avenue and East 187th Street, according to the network.
Before hanging up, the caller told detectives they could find their suspect in the hospital, the outlet reported.
The NYPD confirmed that Ramos, who lived nearby, was arrested Sunday and charged with attempted rape and burglary.
He had not been arraigned by Tuesday afternoon, as law-enforcement sources said he was still at St. Barnabas Hospital.
The exact nature of his injuries was unclear.
Ramos was last arrested Oct. 6, 2018, for allegedly robbing a Bronx deli while claiming that he’d just shot a cop, police said.
He allegedly barged into the shop on East 178th Street near Mapes Avenue, flashed the butt of a black handgun and sneered, “Give me the money. I just shot a cop. I’ll be back tomorrow for more money.”
He had not shot a cop, police sources said.
The disposition of that case was not immediately known.
Most of Ramos’ prior arrests have been for robberies and burglaries, according to authorities.
