The Issue: The LA Dodgers giving a “Community Hero Award” to a group that satirizes Catholic nuns.
I’ve been a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers since my childhood in the 1960s (“Pray for Woke Baseball,” Rich Lowry, PostOpinon, June 17).
But it made me deeply happy — on the night the cowards who now run the Dodgers defiled our team’s legacy by “honoring” this vulgar and blasphemous group of reprobates calling themselves “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” — not only to see my beloved Dodgers lose to the usually despised San Francisco Giants, but to see them do so in stinging, train-wreck fashion in 11 innings.
Some things in our universe certainly make sense.

A group that (mis)uses religious imagery to satirize Catholics received the Dodgers’ “Community Hero Award.”
But who has not received a community hero award from the Dodgers? The Catholic nuns of Los Angeles and beyond, who dedicate their lives to helping those in need and do extraordinary service for others every day.
Nuns operate schools, providing quality education to children in underserved communities, often on scholarship. Nuns run clinics, hospitals and hospices, providing medical care and compassionate support, regardless of one’s ability to pay.
Nuns provide critical support to individuals in prison, many with no other connections to the outside world.
And what makes them true “community heroes” for many is they do this humbly, without needing to satirize and demean others.

The LGBTQ group that was honored at the baseball game is offensive and disrespectful to an extreme. Raising money for charity doesn’t make their behavior somehow respectable or excusable.
The Dodgers shouldn’t be allowing any group to vomit their bigotry and toxic shame on everyone. It’s nothing for anyone to take “pride” in.

Let me ask the Dodgers this: Among the fans who attend Dodgers games, do you think a few may be Catholic?
Having said this, let me ask: You have no problem insulting your Catholic fans by honoring a group that not only ridicules Catholics, but holds a deep hatred for them as well?
The Dodgers organization is disgraceful for even considering honoring such a group. All fans should boycott Dodgers games forever, given the fact that the organization assists with initiating religious hatred.
May they never win another game and may this ownership group live to fail miserably forever.

The Issue: A man who was slashed in the face by a homeless man whom he tried to assist on the subway.
Many people, including myself, feel for Gideon Moncrieff (“Hero is scarred for life now,” June 18).
This selfless act will now disfigure him for life. To add insult, the injury was caused by a piece of trash who had allegedly previously tried to choke his girlfriend to death, but was released by a judge.
Now Judge Patrick Lewis posts his bail at $7,500. He will soon be free to do this again.
What is it going to take for New Yorkers to wake up and vote all these enabling judges, DAs and politicians out?

Welcome to the world of Gov. Hochul, Mayor Adams and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Each one of these pathetic “leaders” was elected by a blind Democratic electorate, which only votes for the party and disregards qualifications. You’re getting exactly what you voted for: crime, homelessness and taxation.
