A 62-year-old man was busted this week for allegedly gunning down his 45-year-old wife in a cold-blooded, broad-daylight burst of violence in Queens last month, police said.
Audwin Caines, who cops say is homeless, fired multiple shots at Chaneil Ramsay on 127th Avenue near 176th Street in South Jamaica around 2:30 p.m. June 23 – a few blocks from her home, according to cops.
Ramsay collapsed onto the pavement, where police found her face-down, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.
Meanwhile, Caines took off, and his 21-year-old stepdaughter called the cops, police said.
Ramsay was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Caines evaded capture for more than three weeks before the NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force caught up to him Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
He was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, cops said.
His arraignment was pending in Queens Criminal Court Wednesday afternoon.
The motive for the brazen daylight shooting remains unclear.
