So much for sweating bullets in the summer heat.

The Big Apple so far this year kept up its historic streak of record-low shootings, even after the summer when gun violence typically spikes, NYPD officials revealed Wednesday.

Shootings and the number of gun violence victims plunged to the lowest levels in the city’s history for the nine months of the year, according to newly released crime statistics.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch credited a massive deployment of cops — who were mobilized from desk jobs to foot posts — into high-crime “summer zones” for the sustained decline in gun crime.

“Up to 2,300 cops were sent to work in 72 summer zones across nearly 60 communities last May, the largest deployment of its kind in NYPD history,” she said in a news conference.

“But this strategy wasn’t just about size, it was about planned precision, and it worked.”

The newly released third-quarter crime stats also showed the city’s subways were the safest they’ve ever been for a July, August and September.

Subway crime so far this year is down more than 4%, hitting the lowest level in 15 years outside the coronavirus shutdown, the numbers show.

“Outside of the COVID years, we just had the safest third quarter ever in transit with major crime falling by nearly 14%,” Tisch said.

The freshly unveiled NYPD statistics show nearly all major felonies fell in September compared to the same month last year, led by a 27% drop in murders.

Year-to-date, murder is down nearly 18% compared to the same span in 2024, the data shows.

Rape was the only major crime to rise during the last quarter and year-to-date, with 13% and 19% increases, respectively, according to data.

Police officials have attributed the rise in rapes to New York law recently broadening the crime’s definition.

The city saw 553 shooting incidents so far this year, compared to 693 recorded during the same span in 2024, data shows.

The 216 shootings during the third-quarter this year were New York City’s lowest in recorded history, officials said.

The near-sterling crime numbers represented a bittersweet triumph for Mayor Eric Adams, who stood alongside Tisch during his first public appearance since announcing he wouldn’t seek re-election.

Crime spiked in New York City and other major cities nationwide amid the pandemic’s upheaval — a surge that stubbornly persisted as Adams took office in 2022.

But the fever broke in January 2024, which kicked off seven straight quarters — and counting — in which major crime significantly decreased, NYPD data shows.

Adams had hoped the improvements would buoy his push for a second term, but his re-election hopes were dashed by a plague of scandals — including his historic indictment on corruption charges.

Hizzoner took the chance from the stage to blast mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani as “problematic” for public safety and boasting he’s leaving the city in “good shape.”

“It has become so good for you guys that you don’t even realize. But you know what? You’re gonna miss me,” Adams said.

“And we say in the words of (former Mayor Michael) Bloomberg, when I became mayor: ‘Don’t f–k it up.’”
