They’re going to have to answer for this in the afterlife.

A sinful couple attacked and robbed a worker inside a Manhattan church Wednesday after he asked the pair not to block the doors to the house of worship, cops and sources said.

The 67-year-old Holy Cross Church sexton confronted the sinful man — who appeared to be rolling a joint as he sat next to a woman on the steps of the church near Times Square at around 2 p.m., police and a witness said.

The sexton snapped a cellphone pic of the couple when they refused to budge and went inside to call 911, cops said.

“I got you on camera,” the worker told the pair, according to church volunteer Bob Most, 64.

That sent the sacrilegious pair into a rage, and the man and woman followed him inside the spot on West 42nd Street near Eighth Avenue, cops and sources said.

The man then snatched the worker’s phone from his hands and clocked him in the forehead, leaving him with a cut and swelling before they fled south on Ninth Avenue, police said.

Most, who was praying inside the church at the time of the violence, said he heard a commotion that grew louder and louder.

“So I went to the front of the church,” Most said. “I saw [the worker] in the corner bleeding. He was on the floor. I saw this guy exiting the doorway halfway on his way out the door.

“I guess he fell and the blood was coming down his head. He was rubbing his forehead. He had a giant bump on his forehead,” he added.

The worker told Most that the violent crook had taken his phone – and Most ran out after the attackers, he said.

“He kept walking towards Burger King and I said, ‘I’m filming you,’” Most said. “He turned around and started coming at me. A good Samaritan came to my rescue saying, ‘Leave him alone. He’s an old man.’”

The belligerent brute then got into a tussle with the Samaritan, as Most stayed on his tail.

The sexton was taken to Mount Sinai West hospital, where he needed six stitches to close the gash on his forehead, plus a tetanus shot and a CT scan, according to Most.

“It’s crazy that his job is becoming more and more like a security guard — that’s part of one of his things now,” Most said. “I come here a lot of times and there are people urinating, defecating on the church [steps]. They just think it’s a place to hang out and do whatever they want.”

Both suspects are believed to be in their 20s with dark complexions — with the man described as heavyset, last seen wearing a short-sleeved beige flannel shirt over a black T-shirt with blue jeans and gray sneakers, sources said.

The woman was spotted wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white sneakers, while carrying a black crossbody bag and a white plastic shopping bag, according to the sources.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai West hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
