A young man was beaten and stabbed to death near Times Square early Monday by three thugs who are still on the lam, according to police and sources.
Daevon Silva, 23, was bashed with a baseball bat and then stabbed in the back and right thigh by the trio of thugs just after 1 a.m. near 49th Street and Seventh Avenue in what sources said could be a drug-related attack.
The victim, who cops said has a Pawtucket, Rhode Island address, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are hunting for three males in connection to the stabbing: one in a purple sweater and black ski mask; one in a black jacket, dark pants and brown boots; and another wearing all black, sources said.
At least one of the suspects and the victim knew each other with a dispute escalating into the deadly violence, sources said.
Silva had no run-ins with the law in New York, but had a light criminal history in Rhode Island, according to sources.
The murder left some tourists in the Big Apple shaken.
“It’s a little disturbing to hear people are getting stabbed,” a tourist from San Francisco told CBS 2. “Not what I want to hear my first time in New York, actually.”
The shocking attack is part of a rash of other high-profile crimes to rock Midtown Manhattan recently, including the shooting death of a 39-year-old man early Sunday.
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, 29, was also shot and wounded in Midtown outside a club while he was with teammates early morning on Nov. 16.
A scuffle broke out on the sidewalk, leading up to the shots being fired, sources previously told The Post. No one with Boyd was armed, sources said.
No arrest has been made in that case.
There have been two slayings in the NYPD’s Midtown South precinct this year while there were four in all of 2024, according to NYPD data.
Felony assaults have increased by about 3% this year, the data showed.
In the Midtown North precinct, there’s been one more murder this year than last year for an overall figure of five through Nov. 16 — though felony assaults have risen by 11.6% year-to-year, NYPD numbers show.
