A Long Island man was arrested for allegedly knifing his wife and their 2-year-old daughter to death at the family’s home over the weekend.
Misbah Batool, 33, and her toddler daughter, Iazia Zanoor, were found stabbed at their home on Jefferson Avenue in Brentwood around 4:40 p.m. Sunday by responding cops, Suffolk County Police said.
Both were taken to South Shore University Hospital, where they died, police said.
Batool’s husband, 31-year-old Zanoor Jaffari, was arrested on two counts of second-degree murder for the killings of his wife and daughter, reported Newsday.
Jaffari underwent a medical evaluation at Good Samaritan University Hospital and was discharged before being charged in the heinous crime.
Police have not said what had prompted Jaffari’s hospitalization.
He was held by the police overnight pending his arraignment scheduled for Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
Investigators have not released a possible motive for the double homicide.
It was not immediately clear if there were any other family members present inside the six-bedroom home at the time of the deadly attack.
