A violent criminal randomly shoved a 66-year-old Manhattan theater violinist to the ground, breaking the woman’s wrist in 10 places and potentially derailing her career, authorities said Friday.
Suspect Michael Allen, 34 — who has 15 prior arrests, seven convictions including for assault and an open case for allegedly spitting on and kicking a police officer — was freed without bail on supervised release by Judge Lumarie Maldonado Cruz at the suspect’s Manhattan Criminal Court arraignment Friday, officials said.
Allen is accused of attacking the musician Aug. 5 on West 45th Street as she was leaving the theater where she works, prosecutors said.
Prosecutor Madeline Holbrook asked for Allen’s bail to be set at $50,000, telling the judge that the suspect had an extensive criminal history, has had his probation revoked twice and has failed to show up to court in prior cases.
Holbrook also noted that Allen would face mandatory prison time if convicted — while the victim has been left with a mangled wrist, needing surgery and extensive physical therapy.
Holbrook said the injuries could potentially alter the victim’s career.
Allen has three open cases against him tied to a Nov. 29 incident in which he kicked a cop and spat in his face while the officer was trying to arrest him in Times Square for illegally selling marijuana from the sidewalk, authorities said.
He’s due back in court Oct. 19 in the new case and is set to appear in court Sept. 18 for the case involving the cop.
Allen’s lawyer did not immediately return a Post request for comment.
