A 59-year-old woman was attacked on board a Manhattan train early Tuesday during a fight with a group of strangers that spilled out onto the platform, cops said.
The victim was riding a southbound A train approaching the 23rd Street station in Chelsea around 3:30 a.m. when the argument with the other passengers broke out, authorities said.
The exchange of words soon turned into a physical fight — with the woman being assaulted by the group, the NYPD said.
Police could not immediately provide further details on the attack, or say if any weapons were used.
The suspects fled the station after the assault, which had spilled out onto the platform, cops said.
Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.
It was also unclear if the woman required medical attention.
Nothing was stolen from the victim, but she ended up leaving her belongings on the train when the fight continued on the platform, police said.
The incident comes days after an unhinged man pummeled a woman more than 60 times with her own cane inside the West 116 Street and Lenox Avenue station around 3:30 a.m. Friday, cops said.
No arrests had been made by Tuesday morning and the investigation was ongoing.
