The Issue: A 60-year-old woman was beaten with her cane in a Harlem subway station.
The 60-year-old woman who was cane-whipped 50 times in our “safe” subways, allegedly by an ex-con cretin, never had a chance of someone intervening to help her — not since the case of the former Marine who stood up and restrained another unhinged man threatening train riders (“Fiend was free to brutalize me,” Sept. 6).
The Marine was indicted for manslaughter. New Yorkers saw what happens to good Samaritans. No good deed goes unpunished.
But Mayor Adams says the subways are safe, and our fears are a perception, not based on reality.

Defenseless Laurell Reynolds sadly had her number called on the city’s ever-spinning roulette wheel of violence.
It’s bad enough the mayor repeatedly spews out talking points about the public being safer and crime being down, but the fact that delusional and denying puppets like himself and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg travel about with security on the city’s dime, while seemingly impervious to the depravity, is the ultimate insult.
This duo is the perfect storm of ineptitude.

Not too long ago, Adams said the subways were safer and crime was down.
All one needs to do is take a look at the images of the little old lady, Laurell Reynolds, being attacked, allegedly by a career criminal, in a subway station to realize the mayor is throwing bull into the face of New Yorkers again.
For more proof, take a stroll, at your own risk, through the rat-infested streets of Times Square — but be sure not to disturb the strung-out junkies.
If you enjoy an occasional high, go ahead and breathe in the potent aroma of marijuana on every corner.
And for all you native New Yorkers, when Election Day rolls around, keep in mind what Adams has brought to this very special city.

Is anyone shocked that no one came to the aid of the 60-year-old woman who was brutalized by an alleged repeat criminal?
New Yorkers have learned, thanks to Bragg’s criminal justice, that defending oneself and others may lead to prosecution and accusations of racism.
And then there is the Rev. Al Sharpton, always ready to blow his horn. This city is near destruction.

My heart goes out to Laurell Reynolds and her family after her horrific beating.
Laurell lies in a hospital bed, while her alleged assaulter was initially not arrested, free to potentially attack another victim.
No one went to help Laurell because everyone remembers Daniel Penny, the good Samaritan, who faces jail for helping his fellow subway passengers. Thank you, Bragg, for making New York unlivable.

The Manhattan DA locks up good Samaritans with greater regularity than he locks up murderers, rapists and other dangerous criminals.

It was awful how that poor women was beaten. No one came to help her. Someone even recorded the beating instead of helping her.
I remember when the progressive Democrats were asked who will help anyone in trouble if we defund the police. Their answer was that they would help each other.
Well, we saw how that worked out. If you keep voting for the same party, this is what happens.
