In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: In the early hours of December 29, Sarah DeLeon left her boyfriend’s home, but was never seen alive again. Later that morning, she was found stabbed to death on railroad tracks in Kansas City, Kansas. Her death remained a mystery, and the case went cold.
Decades later, investigators reopened the case and linked Sarah’s death to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Diana Ault in January 1994. The young mother was killed in front of her two children, and her car was found nearby with the engine still running.
Both women allegedly had one person in common: Carolyn Heckert.
Carolyn reportedly previously dated Sarah’s boyfriend and also had an affair with Diana’s husband. She was arrested in October 2016 in connection with Sarah’s death, but six months later, in April 2017, a judge in Missouri dismissed the case due to lack of probable cause. In March 2022, the FBI announced they were reopening Diana’s case.
Let’s look back at the case of two women who were brutally killed and the person who is allegedly the connecting link.
