A car service driver who allegedly beat a man to death and severely injured his cousin in Brooklyn was arrested Friday.
Sergio Zamora Mendoza, 33, was charged with manslaughter and assault over the deadly encounter early Thursday morning, according to police.
Mendoza was allegedly behind the wheel when he got into a fight with passengers Carlos Guaman, 66, and his 52-year-old cousin after the pair had been dropped off on West 9th Street near Avenue T in Gravesend around 4:40 a.m., cops said.
The cousins were both brutally bashed in the head and left knocked unconscious outside of the car before Mendoza allegedly sped off.
The attack was caught on a doorbell camera, police sources said.
The victims were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center with head trauma. Guaman was pronounced dead and his younger cousin was listed in critical but stable condition, according to police.
The younger cousin – who had been drinking and was still highly intoxicated after the attack – told investigators he did not remember what happened, sources said.
The killing left neighbors stunned.
“I’ve been living in this neighborhood for almost 9 years and [this] has never, never happened here,” a man who only identified himself as Tedo told The Post. “I don’t see anybody fighting, it’s always a quiet neighborhood.”
“It is so bad, what happened and so near to Christmas,” he added.
