A moped rider intentionally plowed into an NYPD cop who tried to stop him in the Bronx Sunday night — the latest in a recent disturbing trend of mopeders ramming into officers to avoid arrest.
Police attempted to pull over a man driving a black moped at 171st Street and Morris Avenue – just outside the William H. Taft High School Educational Campus – around 6:50 p.m. Sunday for a traffic infraction, police said.
During the stop, the rash motorist took off – deliberately striking a uniformed cop, authorities said.
The officer suffered minor leg injuries and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, cops said.
The moped menace was still on the loose Monday.
The incident comes just weeks after another wild moped rider, Brandynn Davis, 26, plowed into an NYPD cop who tried to stop him for running a red light in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, according to police.
He was arrested and slapped with a laundry list of charges, including assault on a police officer, cops said.
In a similarly brazen act in early December, another moped rider – who has not been caught – slammed into a cop who tried to stop him for reckless driving in North Corona, Queens, cops said.
