A wrong-way driver barreled into an NYPD cop minutes after police responded to an unrelated robbery at a high-end clothing store on the Upper East Side Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
A crowd of several crooks allegedly stormed into the Mackage store near East 68th Street and Madison Avenue around 4:20 p.m and grabbed around $10,000 worth of clothes including pricey jackets, according to cops.
The alleged band of thieves fled in a black Lexus before abandoning it on East 72nd Street and Park Avenue.
An officer from the 19th precinct was standing near the suspects’ Lexus when he spotted another car driving northbound in the southbound lane, police said.
The cop approached and ordered the driver to pull over.
Instead, the female driver hit the gas, sending the cop flying over the side of the car, according to the NYPD.
She was arrested at the scene.
Charges were pending against her Wednesday night.
The officer was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he underwent a CT scan for possible head injuries as well as scans on his injured leg and arm, police said.
The driver is not connected to the Madison Avenue robbery, cops said.
The suspects in the Madison Avenue robbery, meanwhile, have not been caught.
