A crazed gunman wearing a Tupac Shakur T-shirt plunged the University of California at Berkeley campus into terror Friday night after randomly firing an automatic handgun outside a packed classical music performance.
According to reports, the unnamed shooter — who resides in Oakland — drove onto the campus on a motorcycle around 8:30 p.m. and began harassing a group of students practicing a dance routine inside a tent.
Students told the Berkeley Scanner that the man was agitated and appeared delusional.
As the coeds attempted to convince him to leave the area, he at one point threatened to summon federal agents and have them deported.
After refusing to depart, a video shows the man then repeatedly firing a handgun near the school’s student union.
Footage recorded by witnesses shows panicked students running up stairs inside the building as shots explode.
Police later found a bullet hole in a nearby campus building window.
The chaos erupted during a packed concert by acclaimed soprano Renee Fleming in nearby Zellerbach auditorium.
Roughly 2,000 spooked attendees were forced to shelter in place during an intermission as police units swarmed the scene.
Cops quickly zeroed on a suspect and placed him in custody. Other videos show a man under arrest denying any involvement in the incident before being taken away.
Berkeley Police officials said he was placed on a psychiatric hold pending further investigation.
There were no reported injuries.
Some students took to social media to vent their frustrations with growing crime on the renowned Berkeley campus.
Others complained that the school failed to send out an alert about the situation in a timely manner.
