A Rikers Island inmate attacked a fellow Gorilla Stone Bloods gang member with a 7-inch homemade Plexiglas knife — leaving his victim needing life-saving heart surgery, authorities said Tuesday.
Gangbaner Shane Delisle, 25, whose street name is “Bankroll” or “Swerve,” was indicted in the Dec. 20 attack in which he allegedly stabbed Charles Satterwhite multiple times in the chest and back until correction officers showered him with pepper spray, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said.
“This vicious attack was caught on video, which showed the defendant allegedly stabbing the victim multiple times with a piece of Plexiglas fashioned into a knife, causing life-threatening injuries,” Clark said in a statement about the attack, which unfolded at 8:30 p.m. inside the George R. Vierno Center.
“Department of Correction Officers swiftly stopped him before the victim was killed,” Clark added.
Satterwhite — who likely knew Delisle before the attack — was brought to Elmhurst Hospital, where he needed open-heart surgery, Clark said.
Jail guards found two more Plexiglas shivs inside Delisle’s cell, the statement said.
Delisle is facing one charge of second-degree attempted murder, two charges of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault and various other offenses for the December crime, the DA said.
At Delisle’s Tuesday arraignment, a judge ordered him held until his next court date on May 14, Clark added.
Delisle has also been charged with promoting prison contraband and weapons offenses.
He was in jail since March on a series of 2022 charges, including attempted murder, gang assault, and assault with intent to kill, according to court records.
