The Issue: A high-profile rape allegedly perpetrated by an undocumented migrant in Coney Island.

Nicaraguan national Daniel Davon-Bonilla allegedly raped a woman at knifepoint in Coney Island, and his accomplice assaulted her boyfriend when he tried to come to her aid (“Deport Migrant Criminals,” Editorial, Aug. 13).

This feels like a disturbing trend. Mayor Adams and Gov. Hochul must take decisive action to address this serious problem.

Migrants who commit violent crimes such as robbery, shootings, assaults, rape and murder should be deported.

Too many violent crimes are being committed by illegal migrants across New York.

It’s about time not only for local governments to take notice — but the federal government as well.

Migrant gangs should also be targeted, groups that prey on unsuspecting people.

Enough with the talk by politicians.

It’s time for real action.

Joseph Comperchio

Brooklyn

Another day, another horrific crime in New York City.

Now it’s another violent sexual assault.

What is most bothersome is that both of the accused offenders illegally entered the country, and one had been arrested for sexual offenses previously.

Because of the irrational, liberal policies of New York’s DAs, many of those arrested spend little time in jail.

Nicholas Maffei

Yonkers

ICE is already overwhelmed with the onslaught of millions of illegal migrants crossing our border.

It doesn’t have the resources to have someone scroll on a computer and monitor thousands of cities across this country — nor should it be required to do this.

The DA has the affirmative obligation to make this happen.

Dems want immigration and sanctuary cities. Hold them to account for all of the consequences.

Lucia Mandarino

Westchester

It’s unfortunate to witness New York City’s descent into a quagmire of drugs, crime and disorder.

With this in mind, couldn’t Gov. Hochul use her executive power to remove District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other DAs who refuse to do there jobs?

Imagine the effect that could ripple across our city, hopefully for the better.

Nick Gatsoulis

With an already-hostile, anti-police City Council creating obstacles for effective and efficient law enforcement in New York, the concept of requiring individual officers to carry their own liability insurance is just another insult and potential debacle for the department (“Pol eyes liability insurance for cops,” Aug. 11).

The imposition of this requirement would — in the extremely unlikely event of its adoption —only serve to further decrease the city’s ability to compete for highly qualified candidates.

It might occur to the political hacks that are continuing to award taxpayer money for specious and utterly unworthy lawsuits that the suits themselves are the problem.

The more you settle these shakedown suits, the more suits you’re going to get.

Wake up, voters: In the end it’s your safety and security at risk.

Mitchell Schwefel

Barnegat, NJ

I was disgusted to read of Queens Councilmember Nantasha Williams’ new legislation that would force NYC cops to buy their own personal liability insurance.

Cops are already underpaid, and they shouldn’t be asked to assume this added burden.

This new bill is nothing more than attempt to aid the “Defund the Police” movement.
