The Issue: Miranda Devine’s column accusing the left of stoking violence through anti-Trump rhetoric.

After comparisons to Hitler and accusations that he’s a threat to democracy, how could you not expect there to be attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life (“Foes put target on Don,” Miranda Devine, Sept. 16)?

Alongside this, why is it that when Trump says the word “bloodbath,” it is assumed that he literally wants one?

But when President Biden says that it’s “time to put Trump in a bull’s-eye,” then that is meant metaphorically and must be taken in context — not literally?

Charles Sitero

What about the reckless rhetoric from none other than Trump himself?

He has sown the seeds of craziness and it has all come back to haunt him.

He’s a marked man by many of the people he has pushed over the edge with his hateful speech, racism, misogyny and lies.

He’s responsible for bringing this shooting on himself.

Hank DePerro

Manhattan

The Democrats need to tone down their provocative and dangerous remarks about Trump, as the shooting suspect was espousing their hateful statements that Trump is a danger to democracy.

Harold Fishman

Manhattan

It appears the wannabe assassin was a rabid anti-Trumper spurred on by leftist media.

Trump gets blamed for every violent crime by someone who is far-right, even though his rhetoric has never called for such violence.

This, unlike the lunatic left that calls him a fascist and compares him to Hitler.

Those on the left should be held responsible for their hateful speech after the latest attempt on Trump’s life.

Charlie Honadel

Venice, Fla.

Yes, the Democrats and progressive media have called Trump a threat to democracy, and that is inappropriate.

Yet Trump, his vice presidential candidate JD Vance and many in right-wing media have castigated Kamala Harris and the Democrats as Marxists who hate America and want to destroy it.

So if someone were to be radicalized from this and took a shot at Harris, would The Post similarly denounce Trump and right-wing media for spreading apocalyptic talk about Harris and her party?

Burglar posed as college student to spend 3 nights in dorm stealing from students: police

The murder rate on the subway has soared by 60%, yet every time Mayor Adams holds a press conference, he has “Safest Big City in America” printed on his backdrop (“Subway slay surge,” Sept. 15).

At what point is someone in the media going to challenge him and point out that the numbers he’s telling the public are wrong, and that crime in the city is a real problem?

Rob Cerone

Manhattan

In response to rising violent crime in the subway, the NYPD previously deployed over 1,000 extra officers and the National Guard added 750 soldiers to the subway.

Sounds good.

But what is the strategy?

When I enter a station and pass several police officers and National Guardsmen near the turnstiles, and yet few on the platforms or patrolling the trains, one has to question the game plan and effectiveness of this deployment.

As violent crime continues to rise on the subway, our leadership needs to revise their plan.

John Cornicello

Lynbrook

So after more cops were deployed to the subway in a bid to fight crime, all we’ve gotten is a shooting incident that left four people wounded by NYPD gunfire and a 60% increase in violent crime?
