Cops caught a pervert who allegedly raped a woman after he broke into her Upper East Side apartment while she slept last week, police said Thursday.
Donovan Murphy, 28, was caught by the Fugitive Task Force Wednesday after using the 29-year-old victim’s credit cards across the Bronx, sources said.
The accused sicko was slapped with multiple charges, including rape, strangulation, burglary and grand larceny for the brutal Sept. 28 assault near East 92nd Street and First Avenue.
Murphy allegedly broke into the woman’s second-floor apartment and punched her in the face before choking and raping her around 3:40 a.m., according to sources.
The creep then snatched her credit cards and fled, sources said.
The victim was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition.
The terrifying attack came amid a disturbing spike in sexual assault across the Big Apple — with a 14.1% increase this year as of Sept. 29 compared to the same period in 2023.
In the 19th Precinct, where the sickening attack took place, 13 people were victims of rape so far this year compared to nine in 2023.
Murphy was arrested inside his Bronx home and awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Thursday afternoon.
