A man was arrested and charged with the death of his 84-year-old mother, more than a year after police found her dead inside her Upper West Side home, according to cops and sources.
Edward Asencio, 51, was busted on Thursday and charged with manslaughter and second-degree assault charges for allegedly killing his mother, Ana Asencio, whose lifeless body was discovered face-up in the bedroom of her W. 93 St. apartment at 9:57 p.m. on July 17, 2023, according to police.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide in January – six months later.
Police discovered the victim while responding to a 911 call, police said, with first responders declaring her dead at the scene.
The victim – who had a pacemaker – had bruising on most of her face when police found her, according to sources.
No arrests were made until Thursday.
