A Georgia cop who once clinched “Deputy of the Year” honors was charged with DUI this month after he allegedly attempted to direct traffic on a street that didn’t have any cars, authorities said.

Houston County Sheriff’s deputy Garrison Page found himself on the opposite end of the law on Nov. 19 when an open can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade was reportedly discovered in his patrol vehicle outside of an elementary school where he was acting bizarrely, according to police docs obtained by local outlets.

Authorities were first called to Skyview Elementary School after witnesses saw Page unsteadily directing traffic in plain clothes around 9 a.m., an incident report states, according to WMGT.

Page was allegedly slurring his speech and reeked of alcohol with his patrol vehicle also on the scene.

“When Page noticed my presence, he immediately began walking away from the scene and entered the oncoming turning lane of the roadway,” the responding Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy wrote.

A county Board of Education officer who first interacted with Page said the cop was directing traffic in an area with no flow of cars and appeared intoxicated, the incident report states.

When another board of education officer asked if Page needed medical help, he replied, “None of your business,” per the incident report.

Page earned “Deputy of the Year” when he worked for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in 2019.

Page’s patrol vehicle allegedly had an unopened can of Natural Light in a black bag on top of the Mike’s Hard Lemonade that was already cracked open.

After he was arrested, he allegedly gave deputies trouble when they tried to draw blood from him, WMGT reported.

Page earned “Deputy of the Year” when he worked for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in 2019 with many community members congratulating him on Facebook over the accomplishment.

He had been working for Houston County for just eight days leading up to the alleged drunk driving incident, WMAZ reported.

A Houston sheriff’s spokesperson told the station Page was suspended pending possible termination.
