A Bronx driver found murdered inside a private ambulette on Monday was a pioneering musician known as P. Fluid — who once opened for Grammy Award-nominated rock band Jane’s Addiction, it has been revealed.
Peter Forrest, 64, was discovered lying face-down in a pool of blood inside the bus parked on Castle Hill Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to authorities.
His body showed signs of trauma, cops said.
No arrests have been made yet over the murder of Forrest, who under his pseudonym P. Fluid, was part of the original lineup of South Bronx-based outlet 24-7 Spyz, the Daily News reported.
The group, who mixed metal, hardcore, punk, and funk, once opened for Jane’s Addiction on their Ritual de lo Habitual tour.
His former girlfriend, Chiedza Makonnen, described him as her first love.
Makonnen, who now lives part-time in Ghana, told the Daily News that Forrest was a founding member of the Black Rock Coalition.
She said the pair met while she was visiting a cousin in Harlem and they quickly struck up a relationship.
“I knew Peter from when I was 18 until I was about 35,” she said, adding that their relationship eventually ended partly due to Forrest’s touring demands.
“Music was his life and advancing Black rock was his life,” she added.
“He loved to be on the road, that was his happy place.”
After leaving the band, Forrest formed P.Fluid and the P.Fluid Foundation, later rejoining 24-7 Spyz temporarily before forming his new band, BlkVampires, his first solo act.
She said Forrest was also a veteran and “proud” of his military career.
At the time of his murder, he was working for Long Island-based firm Marquis Ambulette.
He was living five miles away in Allerton.
Colleagues called 911 and emergency crews found the bus on Castle Hill Avenue in Castle Hill.
Cops say the death is being treated as a homicide, although the exact circumstances behind what happened are still unclear,
Makonnen says she is shocked over the death, adding that Forrest had no enemies and that she had never seen him in a fight.
“Peter was a good person who loved music,” she said.
