In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Michele MacNeill was a beauty queen living what seemed to be a perfect life with her successful husband, Martin MacNeill. But ugliness brewed beneath the facade.
Martin wasn’t committed to the marriage and even had a relationship with a woman who would later became his children’s nanny. Despite the affair, Michele and Martin remained married.
On April 3, 2007, Michele underwent a facelift and spent the night in the hospital recovering. Since he was a doctor, Martin reportedly gave the plastic surgeon a list of medications he wanted prescribed to his wife — including Valium and Oxycodone.
Michele went home after the surgery and apparently told one of her daughters she thought Martin was making her take too many pills.
On April 11, 2007, Michele and Martin’s daughter Ada found Michele unresponsive in the bathtub with her head next to the faucet. Martin reportedly told paramedics he believed his wife had overdosed on painkillers, killing her.
The autopsy initially determined Michele died from natural causes, but in 2010, her children fought for a new toxicology report, which found she had Oxycodone, Ambien, and other drugs in her system. Her cause of death then became “combined effects of heart disease and drug toxicity” and the manner of death changed to “undetermined.”
Martin and his mistress, Gypsy Willis, reportedly got married April 14, 2007 — the same day as Michele’s funeral.
In 2012, Martin was charged with murder, and he was convicted November 9, 2013. He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, but in April 2017, he died by suicide in the Utah State Prison.
Let’s look back at the unfortunate demise of Michele MacNeill at the hands of her husband.
