Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband had to lock themselves in a closet when a group of masked burglars broke into a London mansion in which the two were staying in February 2023, it was revealed Monday.
Taylor-Joy, 28, and her musician hubby Malcolm McRae, 30, were with McRae’s bandmate Kane Ritchotte at the residence owned by another unnamed celebrity who was not home during the horrifying ordeal, The Sun reported.
The crooks tried to get into both parties’ bedrooms after smashing a glass pane to get inside, but ultimately scampered off empty-handed, leaving the trio “shaken but unharmed,” according to the report.
Kirk Holdrick, 42, was later apprehended and charged with the burglary. He is currently being held in prison following his not guilty plea and is expected to stand trial next September.
Holdrick previously made headlines in 2022 during a brief dating stint with Hannah Voyan, a former cast member of British reality television show Towie.
Another alleged accomplice is still on the loose.
There was a reporting restriction placed on the burglary that was finally lifted at the Wood Green crown court in North London on Nov. 3, The Sun reported.
The break-in was reported to the Met Police. CCTV footage was analyzed and forensic checks were performed at the property.
Taylor-Joy originally rose to notoriety after starring in “The Queen’s Gambit” in 2020. Most recently, she stunned in the dystopian action thriller “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
