Disturbing surveillance footage captures the moment a rifle-wielding robber held up a Staten Island convenience store — and declared the pilfered cash was “going back to the community.”
The self-described Robin Hood — who wore safety goggles, a blue face mask and orange gloves — flashed the long black weapon in the Veterans Convenience store on Veterans Road West near Bloomingdale Road around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, according to cops and the video obtained by The Staten Island Advance.
“Empty the f—ing register!” he snarled as he approached the counter. “Empty it! Quick, quick!”
“Take the cash out, underneath the tray and everything,” he demanded.
As the clerk threw some cash onto the counter, the robber assured the worker he wouldn’t hurt him – but continued pointing the weapon in his direction.
“You got a family, don’t worry,” the suspect said, before telling the worker to “leave the dollars.”
“This is going back to the community,” he claimed as he picked up the larger bills.
The crook then told the employee, “Have a good f–king night” before he pointed the rifle down at the ground and walked out of the store.
It’s unclear how much money the armed man managed to steal from the store.
The NYPD confirmed Monday that investigators are still looking for the suspect, described as about 6–foot–2 and 160 pounds with short black hair, last seen wearing dark-colored clothing.
