A Jewish cultural center in the Bronx was vandalized Tuesday night with the message “Free Palestine” spray-painted on the building’s façade, police said.
Eggs were also tossed at the Sholem Aleichem Cultural Center in Norwood in an act of vandalism that coincides with an increase in antisemitic hate crimes across the Big Apple since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel.
“This is the first time something like this has happened to our center in 50 years,” Itzik Gottesman, the center’s co-president, told The Post.
“And it has no place in our neighborhood. We are saddened by the defacing of our building,” Gottesman said.
The graffiti, in black and purple paint, was left on the front and side of the building.
Montefiore Medical Center, which rents space in the building, called the cops around 10:15 p.m. to report the vandalism, police and the co-president said.
No arrests have been made, and the NYPD Hate Crimes Task force is investigating.
Hate crimes have spiked since Hamas’ attack on Israel last month, with almost 60% of them targeting Jewish New Yorkers, authorities said last week.
