A driver fled a car stop in Upper Manhattan, going all the way to the Bronx before slamming into a tractor-trailer — killing one of his passengers and critically injuring another, police said.
Cops tried to pull over the Honda CR-V on Riverside Drive late Wednesday, but the driver sped off and officers quickly lost sight of the vehicle, the NYPD said.
The motorist made it to Drake Street and Spofford Avenue in Hunts Point before ramming a parked, unoccupied tractor-trailer around 11:15 p.m., authorities said.
His 30-year-old male passenger was brought to Jacobi Medical Center where he died.
Another rider, a 29-year-old man, was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, cops said.
The driver fled before cops arrived and was still on the loose Thursday, authorities said.
In a separate crash days earlier, an 8-year-old girl was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver at Sutter and Christopher avenues in Brownsville, cops said.
The girl was walking at that intersection with her 13-year-old brother and 16-year-old sister around 4:30 p.m. Monday when a speeding motorist in a gray Nissan Altima struck her, police said.
The driver fled on Sutter Avenue, making a left turn onto Powell Street, cops said.
The crash left the girl with a fractured leg and a broken pelvis, police said. She was admitted to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
