A brave teenager was able to fight off an armed kidnapper by hitting him with her cell phone, and the horrifying incident was caught on surveillance footage, according to media reports.
The brazen would-be abductor approached the 15-year-old girl Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. near Figueroa Street Elementary School in Los Angeles, LAPD and reports indicate.
The perp reportedly put his hand around the girl’s neck before the quick-thinking teen smacked him with her phone and ran away.
Police said the suspect fled with a gun and they are treating the incident as an attempted kidnapping.
The teen and her mom have not been publicly identified.
As of Saturday afternoon, the LAPD said it had not made an arrest in the case.
