Dramatic video captured the moment a Philadelphia car theft suspect outran a pair of cops after a visit to a hospital – with his hands handcuffed behind his back.
Alleem Bordan, 29, was found asleep early Sunday in a car that had been reported stolen Thursday while the owner was delivering food, Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore said, Fox 29 reported.
He tried to elude police by driving off in the stolen car and ramming a patrol vehicle, according to the outlet.
Bordan complained of pain early Monday and was taken to Temple University Episcopal Hospital, where he was checked out and escorted back to a patrol car, according to the outlet.
But he then made a run for it and left the two officers in the dust.
“He outran them with handcuffs behind him and disappeared in the 2700 block of Hancock Street,” Vanore said, adding that police launched an “intense search,” ABC 6 reported.
Video shows the cuffed suspect sprinting through the Liberty Gas Station parking lot and down the street – narrowly missing a customer in his mad dash.
“If a prisoner complains of pain or has an injury, it’s our policy that we take them to a facility,” Vanore said. “He was checked out and discharged.”
The slippery suspect is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds with braids and a beard.
He was wearing a blue and black plaid shirt over a black T-shirt, blue jeans and brown boots.
Bordan has a litany of prior arrests dating back to 2016, including for aggravated assault, resisting arrest and weapons charges, according to records.
Police noted that it is possible he may also have slipped out of his cuffs by now.
“If someone has a cuff key it isn’t hard at all. If you don’t, I’m not sure. I don’t think I’d be able to get them off. But I’m sure there are ways he can get them off so he may not be handcuffed anymore,” Vanore said.
Bordan has a slew of prior arrests dating back to 2016, including for aggravated assault, resisting arrest and weapons charges, according to records cited by ABC 6.
In 2020, he was charged with attempted escape and resisting arrest in Cambria County in western Pennsylvania.
