The Issue: Israel’s missile strike on a neighborhood in Beirut that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

With the killing of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, Israel has shown its capability to kill its foes (“Time’s up on Israeli patience,” Sept. 29).

We are witnessing a new Israel, one that will no longer have a measured response. It has the motivation to impose its will on its enemies.

Jack Kaufman

Naples, Fla.

The IDF’s attack on Hezbollah’s headquarters eliminated not only its chief, Nasrallah, but also many other senior commanders.

But the reality is that this will not end the war. New leaders for Hezbollah will emerge and, ultimately, Iran’s proxies will continue to attack Israel.

Stanley Rubin

Fresh Meadows

I don’t think many people will mourn Nasrallah’s death.

But many will mourn the consequences of Israel’s strikes on Lebanon, which have killed numerous civilians and displaced thousands more. They will also mourn the escalation that this strike will cause, which could lead to a larger conflict between Israel and Lebanon that kills even more civilians.
We need to put a collar on Israel now and push for a cease-fire before we have World War III on our hands.

Richard James

Brooklyn

Israel’s elimination of Nasrallah was not an “escalation.” The escalation occurred when Hezbollah attacked Israel from the north to open a second front in Iran’s proxy war against Israel, a day after Hamas invaded Israel from the south.

Hezbollah, since then, has fired more than 9,000 rockets at Israel, killing dozens and forcing 60,000 Israelis to the country’s north.

Stephen Silver

San Francisco, Calif.

Is there a bigger picture to the Israel-Hezbollah conflict that we are not seeing?

Hezbollah’s leaders must have predicted and planned around the way Israel would react to their attacks. The strike on Nasrallah wasn’t merely an incident born from impulsivity.

Is the escalating violence in the Middle East the purpose of their attack on Israel? Is Israel’s rage and attacks on this Iranian proxy the result of a pre-planned aim to sow chaos?

The Issue: New statistics indicating that roughly 15,000 migrants accused of murder reside in the US.

I read The Post’s story about the 15,000 killer migrants who are in the United States (“15K+ illegal migrant killers,” Sept. 28).

These criminal migrants threaten America. Kamala Harris was supposed to make sure this did not happen — and yet, it did. Despite this, she still wants to become president.

Frederick Bedell Jr.

Bellerose

The story about the 15,000 killer illegal migrants and other violent criminals who have poured across our borders should be the defining issue of the 2024 election.

“Border Czar” Vice President Harris should be held responsible for her and President Biden’s terrible record on border security.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign should run hard-hitting ads from now until Election Day highlighting the out-of-control violent crimes of these illegal aliens.

Think back to the final days of the 1988 presidential election. Then, the famous ‘Willie Horton’ ads against then-Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis were instrumental in helping former President George H.W. Bush win the election. The Trump campaign has a golden opportunity to replicate that success.
