A Lamborghini driver who crashed his luxury ride in a wild chase with cops through Upper Manhattan last month has been charged with manslaughter for the fiery wreck that killed his passenger, authorities said.
Alejandro Rentas, 22, was arrested Wednesday in connection to the Dec. 4 smash-up at 213th Street and 10th Avenue in Inwood that killed Tiana Rodriguez, 21, police said.
Rentas – whose exact relationship to Rodriguez was unclear Thursday – was driving the sporty luxury SUV when he ran a red light shortly after 10 p.m., according to police sources.
NYPD officers put their lights on to pull Rentas over, but he took off, cops said.
The speeding motorist then zoomed north on 10th Avenue with cops hot on his trail, police said.
He eventually slammed into a silver Hyundai Elantra that was attempting to make a left turn onto West 213th Street, according to cops.
The out-of-control Lamborghini then veered left, striking the pillar of an above-ground subway track, police said.
Responding officers were able to pull Rentas out of the SUV before it eventually erupted into flames with Rodriguez still inside, police said.
The young woman was pronounced dead by EMS, the NYPD said.
Video captured the massive blaze caused by the crash, and what appeared to be bright green wreckage from the scorched Italian sports car.
Rentas was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.
The Bronx resident, who does not have a criminal record, was also charged with assault and reckless endangerment, cops said.
He was arraigned on an indictment and ordered held on $150,000 cash bail, $350,000 insurance company bond or $500,000 partially secured surety bond, prosecutors said. He will reappear in court on April 8.
The driver of Hyundai, a 37-year-old man, was also taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
