Luxury NYC pad used in the NBA gambling scandal asks $22.5M

An extravagant Manhattan townhouse where NBA stars and Mafia goons ran rigged poker games, according to the feds — and which previously had been the rental home of Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy Travis Scott — is back on the market, Gimme Shelter can reveal exclusively.

Jenner and Scott — who share two children but are no longer together — were not mentioned in the indictment, which charged more than 30 people allegedly involved in the scheme. There is no indication that Jenner or Scott had any knowledge of it — or any involvement.

The landmarked, red brick Georgian-style townhouse at 80 Washington Place is asking $22.5 million.

The seller, who prefers anonymity, purchased the home for $17 million in cash just last year. That sale came after the townhouse had lingered on and off the market for a painful 12 years starting in 2012, when it asked $31.5 million, Gimme reported at the time.

The seller was William Rainero, who grew up in the house, when it was carved up into separate apartments.

Built in 1839, the home comes with a storied past. Architect William Renwick, the nephew of St. Patrick’s Cathedral architect James Renwick, designed two twin Greek Revival townhouses at 80 Washington Place and 78 Washington Place.

By 1919, John Philip Sousa, the famed military march king who composed The Stars and Stripes Forever on Christmas Day in 1896, bought 80 Washington for his daughter and her husband.

Fast forward, the ritzy residence was back in the spotlight in October, when Thomas “Juice” Gelardo, an alleged Bonanno and Genovese crime family associate, was arrested with more than 30 others, as prosecutors charged that the home was used for illegal poker games controlled by the Gambino mob family in 2023 — long after Scott had vacated his rental.

NBA stars — former player and current coach Chauncey Billups, former player Damon Jones and Miami Heat player Terry Rozier — were used to lure high rollers, or “whales,” to the games which were held in locations including 80 Washington, according to the indictment. The games were allegedly held by four of the Big Apple’s biggest mob families and players were reportedly swindled out of millions of dollars.

The historic 19th century home was gut-renovated in 2011 by Clodagh Design, when elements like glass, steel and wood were incorporated into the brick and stone design. Eleven skylights also help bring in the light. At 22.5 feet wide, the home features six bedrooms, six baths and three powder rooms.

The interior is around 8,700 square feet, while the swanky spread’s exterior boasts four landscaped private terraces totaling an additional 1,566 square feet.

Along with the recent headlines, the home has also been featured in shelter mags, including “Architectural Digest” and “House Beautiful.” Travis Scott once posted a photo from the home on his social media account when he was living there.

At the garden level, the townhouse opens to a floating wood and glass staircase and a foyer that leads to the chef’s kitchen. There’s also a double-height great room with a gas fireplace, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead to the garden — and a custom elevator.

Downstairs, in the basement, there’s a 700-bottle, “glass-faced” wine cellar, bar and tasting lounge. Upstairs, there’s a mezzanine level with built-ins and space that can function as a home office, a library, a studio or a game lounge, according to the listing.

Next, there are two guest suites with ensuite spa-like baths on the third floor. A primary suite takes up the fourth floor, with a fireplace, a private terrace, a spa-like bath and a walk-in dressing room. A fifth floor features a gym, a glass-enclosed sauna, a terrace and an extra bedroom.

The roof deck, which comes with views of Washington Square Park and One World Trade Center is made for entertaining, with a grilling and dining area, a bar, and an outdoor lounge. Approved building plans for “proposed modifications” are also available, the listing notes, as changes to the 186-year-old landmarked home must be city approved.

The listing broker is Melissa Olson, of Douglas Elliman.
