In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: The case of Cheyann Klus, a brunette beauty who vanished in 2017.
Not long before her disappearance, Cheyann endured what no person her age should have to go through: the death of her mother.
Soon after, Cheyann befriended a 38-year-old man named Brian Biddle, and the two reportedly liked to party together. Not long after Thanksgiving, Brian sent a car to pick up Cheyann and take her to a party.
About two days later, she supposedly texted her good friend Chad asking to get picked up, but he didn’t read her messages in time because he was asleep. He called and texted her back, but he never got a response.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office said her family last saw Cheyann on November 27, 2017, but investigators know she was in Chicago December 1st into December 2nd.
Cheyann’s friend Brian told investigators he had no idea where she went. Then, on December 11th, someone called 911 from her phone, but immediately hung up. Detectives learned the call pinged a cell phone tower about 18 miles away from Cheyann’s home and 20 miles from Brian’s. Investigators and K-9s scoured the area for Cheyann but had no luck.
On January 15, 2023, Cheyann’s sister announced on Facebook that investigators found human remains and positively identified them as Cheyann. The family held a private memorial service in her honor and said she was “respectfully laid to rest.”
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said their detectives are working with other law enforcement agencies, including Chicago Police, to investigate Cheyann’s death.
Let’s look back at Cheyann’s case and what we know about the events leading up to her disappearance and, ultimately, her death.
