A 17-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder after he shot at cops chasing him in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.
The officers tried to stop the teenager and another suspect during an investigation “involving a firearm” at East 167th Street and Union Avenue in Morrisania around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The teen ran off, and, as cops pursued him, allegedly fired a gun at them, cops said.
One of the under-fire officers shot back, according to police.
No one was injured in the exchange.
The teen, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was arrested, cops said.
In addition to the attempted murder rap, he faces two counts of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, as well as reckless endangerment and obstruction of governmental administration charges, police said.
The other male seen with the teen was taken into custody as well, but not immediately charged.
The NYPD’s Force Investigations Division is looking into the incident, authorities said.
