A vandal chucked several rocks through the doors of a Manhattan NYPD precinct — shattering the glass — in an early Thursday crime that one source said “shouldn’t surprise anyone.”
The mischief-maker stood in the middle of the street in front of the Midtown South station house on West 35th Street near Ninth Avenue around 7:40 a.m. and hurled “multiple” rocks toward the building, damaging the window, police said.
The suspect then fled south on 35th Street toward Eighth Avenue, authorities said.
Photos show the glass window severely shattered in multiple places as caution tape blocked off the station house entrance, cops stood outside and someone could be seen sweeping up the fragments.
“This shouldn’t surprise anyone,” a Manhattan cop told The Post. “There are a lot of people who don’t like cops.”
The NYPD described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion who wore a black coat, brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
“Whoever did it knows if he gets arrested nothing will happen to him,” a retired cop said later Thursday. “People know they can get away with these type of crimes.”
