The brother of slain Maryland mom of five Rachel Morin slammed President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris Tuesday in an emotional speech to Republican leaders on night two of the GOP convention in Milwaukee.
“Rachel, a joyful accomplished athlete and mother of five, was raped and murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant … this was described as among the most brutal and violent offenses that has ever occurred in Harford County, Md.,” Michael Morin said in his remarks.
“My sister’s death was preventable,” the grieving brother argued.
“Joe Biden and his designated border czar Kamala Harris opened our borders to him and others like him,” he raged in reference to Rachel’s killer.
“To this day, we have not heard from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris,” he said.
Rachel, a 37-year-old mother of five, was killed on a Bel Air, Md., hiking trail on Aug. 5, 2023, by Victor Martinez-Hernandez, a migrant from El Salvador, according to authorities.
Martinez-Hernandez, 23, illegally crossed into the US in February 2023. He also has ties to Salvadoran street gangs and a violent history.
Authorities noted after his arrest that Martinez-Hernandez was wanted for the assault of a mother and young girl in Los Angeles and a murder in El Salvador.
“They never apologized,” Michael Morin said of the president, 81, and vice president, 59. “But when Rachel was killed, President Trump called my family to offer his condolences.”
“He wanted to meet with us. He cared. That is leadership. We need real leadership back in the White House.”
In June, Trump, 78, raged on Truth Social that Biden is to blame for Rachel’s killing because the president has refused to “shut down the border.”
“ANOTHER one of Crooked Joe Biden’s Illegal Immigrant Criminals was just charged with raping and murdering ANOTHER innocent American woman!” Trump wrote.
The Republican nominee for president likened Rachel’s slaying to the February murder of 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, whose alleged killer also entered the US illegally.
“Rachel Morin was on a run in Maryland, just like Laken Riley was in Georgia, when she was brutally killed by an illegal monster who was wanted for murder in El Salvador and fled to the USA because he knew Crooked Joe would let him in,” Trump argued.
“Now Rachel Morin’s 5 young children will grow up without their mother because Crooked Joe refuses to shut down the border.”
Rachel’s sister told The Post last month that the Morin family fears Martinez-Hernandez may have victimized far more people while in the US illegally.
“Something we’ve been concerned about is that there are other victims out there … whether they were attacked and it ended the same way as my sister, or maybe there are some out there who are still alive but never came forward,” Rebekah Morin said, hoping that any other potential victims come forward.
