A Florida woman is charged with murdering her roommate, who vanished in Orlando on Christmas Day in 2022, according to police.
Gisselle Victoria-Gonzalez, 42, was arrested in Connecticut Thursday and charged with second degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and grand theft in connection to the disappearance of Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco, also 42.
Nearly two years since she was last seen, Medina-Pacheco’s body still has not been found, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Victoria-Gonzalez had contacted police on Dec. 27, 2022 and reported that she had not seen her roommate for two days, police said.
However as law enforcement probed the case, detectives found “numerous inconsistencies” in the version of events as described by Victoria-Gonzalez.
A search warrant was executed at the residence where the two lived and “significant evidence was recovered, indicating a violent incident had occurred,” police said.
Following an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies at local, state and federal levels, detectives determined that Victoria-Gonzalez was living in Hartford, Conn.
Orlando police traveled to her Connecticut residence and, after an interview, determined they had probable cause to charge her with Medina-Pacheco’s death and she was taken into custody.
Video of the arrest posted by OPD shows Victoria-Gonzalez in a bright red dress being led down a hallway flanked by officers.
No additional details about Medina-Pacheco’s disappearance were provided by authorities.
