A stranger threatened to hurt a toddler in a stroller before repeatedly stabbing her mother in a broad-daylight downtown Brooklyn attack this week, cops said Wednesday.
The 34-year-old mom was pushing a stroller with her 3-year-old daughter inside at Jay and Tillary streets around 3:30 p.m. Monday when she and another woman passed each other on the sidewalk, police said.
The woman – who wore a blond wig – then started yelling at the mom, and threatened to harm the little girl, cops said.
The mother got in the suspect’s way to block the crazed woman from the child in the stroller, police said.
But the suspect then turned on the mom – pulling out a knife and stabbing her in the chest, and multiple times in both legs, cops said.
The attacker fled on foot, heading north on Jay Street.
The mom was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Her young daughter was not injured.
The NYPD released photos early Wednesday of the suspect, who is still at large.
The woman is seen walking and talking on the phone, with the blond wig tucked under her arm.
She is described as about 30 years old, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, a thin build and short, black hair.
She was last seen wearing a red jacket, black pants, white sneakers and carrying a gray purse.
