An unhinged shirtless man randomly battered a straphanger with a chair and a scooter after seething, “What the f–k are you looking at?” on a Queens subway platform, police and sources said this week.
The attacker flew into a rage when the 53-year-old man glanced at him on the northbound platform of the Grand Avenue-Newtown M and R station in Elmhurst around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
The deranged suspect had been “causing a disturbance” when the victim, who was standing on the platform with a loaded pushcart, looked over at him, according to police.
“What the f–k are you looking at?” the man suddenly snapped — before grabbing a chair out of the cart and whacking the victim over the head with it repeatedly, police sources said.
The victim was grabbing onto his cart in an attempt to defend himself, but the attacker got hold of a scooter and bashed him with it, cops said.
The creep ran out of the station and has not been caught, police said.
A photo released by the NYPD late Tuesday shows him passing through the turnstile with no shirt, but wearing navy blue pants and carrying a black backpack.
The man, who also wore white sneakers that are not visible in the surveillance grab, is described by cops as approximately 5 feet 8 with a medium complexion.
