Three teens have been busted for smashing a glass bottle into a 68-year-old man’s face during a random attack at the Yankee Stadium subway station in the Bronx this week, authorities said.
A 14-year-old girl faces an assault rap and a 16-year-old boy was hit with charges of assault, gang assault and disorderly conduct in connection to the harrowing early Tuesday attack that left the victim seriously injured, police said. Their names were withheld by the NYPD because they are minors.
The third suspect, Nashali Torres, 18, of the Bronx, was charged with attempted assault, police said.
The trio allegedly came upon the victim at around 4 a.m. on the southbound No. 4 train platform of the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station and smashed him in the face with the bottle, cops said.
The shattered glass caused cuts to the man’s face and eye, and he was brought to Lincoln Medical Center in serious condition, according to police.
The NYPD initially released a surveillance photo of one person who was being sought in the aftermath of the attack, though it’s unclear which suspect was pictured.
The disturbing crime came days after a 32-year-old straphanger was repeatedly stabbed by a man and woman, also at a Bronx subway station, cops said.
The victim was sleeping on a northbound No. 5 train at the Prospect Avenue station around 9:20 p.m. Friday when one of the suspects threw a can at him, according to police.
That sparked a fight that spilled out onto the platform of the station, police said.
There, the pair stabbed the man multiple times with “cutting instruments” before taking off, cops said.
The victim was brought to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Police released surveillance video Wednesday night of the two suspects standing on a subway platform.
They remained on the loose Thursday.
