A heartless SUV driver fatally mowed down a 74-year-old pedestrian and sent him flying through the air in a deadly Brooklyn hit-and-run crash Wednesday night, according to video and police.
Troubling surveillance footage shows the moment a white SUV slams into Segundo Reina-Gaon — brutally catapulting the pedestrian from the crosswalk into a parked car before and into the pavement at Ridge Boulevard and Bay Ridge Avenue around 9 p.m. in Bay Ridge.
The motorist was traveling northbound on Ridge Boulevard when the SUV crashed into the senior citizen, police said.
Reina-Gaon, of Sunset Park, was rushed by medics to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where he died.
State Sen. Andrew Gounardes (D-Brooklyn), who represents the area, said he was “devastated” after hearing about the fatal crash.
“Awful news to wake up to this morning in Bay Ridge” he wrote on X.
“The video is hard to watch. The driver doesn’t appear to even slow down,” he added.
“This driver needs to be apprehended and prosecuted. And we will continue to work with DOT to make this intersection – and Ridge Boulevard – safer.”
Detectives are still combing through evidence to determine the make and model of the SUV, police said.
