A woman fought off a stranger who put her in a chokehold and tried to drag her off a Bronx sidewalk in a terrifying attempted rape that was caught on video, police said.
The attacker – identified by the NYPD Monday as Miguel Rivera, 45 – snuck up behind the 26-year-old victim as she walked along the sidewalk at Vireo Avenue and East 235th Street in the Woodlawn Heights neighborhood around 1:30 a.m. May 24, cops said.
Rivera then wrapped his arms around the woman’s neck and wrestled her down to the pavement without saying a word, according to cops and disturbing surveillance footage obtained by News 12.
The victim fought off the violent sicko, who was still on the loose Tuesday.
Rivera – who was seen on foot for the duration of the News 12 clip – then fled on a blue scooter, authorities said.
The victim refused medical attention on the scene for some minor scrapes, cops said.
The attack came weeks after two other disturbing sex crimes in the Bronx.
A 15-year-old girl fought off a still-at-large pervert who tried to rape her in a wooded area of Pelham Bay Park around 5 p.m. May 18, police said.
In another caught-on-video ordeal May 1, Kashaan Parks, 39, allegedly lassoed a 45-year-old woman with a belt from behind, dragged her unconscious and raped her between two parked cars at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue in the South Bronx, cops said.
