A would-be chain thief slashed a female straphanger with a razor during the Tuesday evening rush in the Bronx – about a week after a pink coat-wearing attacker choked a teen girl on board a Brooklyn train, cops said.
The victim was riding a northbound 2 train passing through the Pelham Parkway station around 5:30 p.m. when the perp – a stranger – inserted herself in a conversation the victim was having and sparked a fight, authorities and sources said.
The perp then cut the victim with a razor and tried but failed to grab her chain, authorities said.
The suspect, believed to be in her 30s, fled after the attack, police said.
In a separate, unrelated attack last week, a female stranger choked a 13-year-old girl during a clash on board a Brooklyn train during the morning rush, cops said.
The pink coat-wearing attacker got into an argument with the young teen on board a G train at Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg around 7:50 a.m. Nov. 17, authorities said.
The fired-up fiend then grabbed the girl’s throat and squeezed, making it hard for her to breathe, police said.
The heartless assailant, shown in a surveillance image released by the NYPD late Tuesday, fled out of the train and cops are still looking to track her down, police said.
The teen was treated at the scene for injuries to her neck, cops said.
Last week’s subway mayhem also included a wild, caught-on-video outburst in which Tyquan Manassa, 28, allegedly knifed two men on the southbound platform of the E and F train at the Union Turnpike station in Kew Gardens Nov. 19, cops said.
And on Nov. 16, Aaron Nett, 33, allegedly shoved a good Samaritan into a moving Harlem train – breaking her back – when she tried to break up a fight inside the 135th Street 2 and 3 train station, prosecutors and sources said.
Still, assaults have seen a slight dip in the city’s transit system so far this year, according to the latest NYPD data, updated Sunday.
A total of 513 felony assaults were reported on the rails, four fewer than the 517 from last year, the statistics show.
Misdemeanor assaults have also fallen to 1,310 from last year’s 1,392, according to the data.
