Talk about privilege: Owen McIntire stands charged with firebombing a Tesla dealership, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage — yet a Massachusetts judge let him out of jail to supervised home release ahead of his trial, to ensure he can keep getting cross-gender hormones and his meds for autism and ADHD.
The perp set cars on fire simply because he doesn’t like the politics of the guy who owns the company that makes them.
It’s only by a miracle no one was maimed or killed; this is no different from throwing molotovs through the window of a mosque or synagogue.
Yet Judge Jessica Hedges had more sympathy for the accused terrorist than the victims and potential victims.
It’s impossible to imagine this or any other judge being this lenient on a right-wing terrorist.
Hedges is sending a signal: Go ahead, boys and girls. Throw your tantrums, set things on fire, and I’ll make sure all you get is a slap on the wrist.
This follows Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty’s decision to let a deranged Minnesota government employee walk free after he vandalized Teslas all over Minneapolis and caused $20,000 in property damages even as she criminally prosecuted others over vandalism causing far less damage.
It’s beyond lawless, and it’s part of what’s becoming an epidemic among Resistance-brained judges, from Milwaukee’s Hannah Dugan (who abused her power to shield one border jumper) to James Boasberg of the DC Circuit and other federal jurists stretching their jurisdiction to issue national stays of presidential policies.
Dugan has been temporarily stripped of her authority by her state’s court system; that should be made permanent.
America would be a better place if that also happens to Hedges — and any other bench-sitter giving a thumbs-up to crimes as long as they’re anti-Trump.
