A Long Island woman was arrested Friday after an alleged drunk driving crash that left a grandmother dead — but her 22-month-old granddaughter miraculously unharmed.

Melissa Koprowski, 31, of Yaphank, slammed her 2014 Dodge Durango into a Nissan SUV as she tried to make a left turn onto Wading River Hollow Road in Middle Island at about 8:40 p.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said in a statement.

One of the Nissan’s passengers, 75-year-old Esther Guy, suffered severe injuries during the accident.

EMS workers brought her to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, but she didn’t survive.

Authorities also brought the driver — Guy’s daughter, Crystal Marks, 33, of Coram — to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.

But somehow, despite the horrific accident, Guy’s 22-month-old granddaughter — who was sitting behind Marks — was unhurt.

Cops arrested Koprowski and charged her with driving while intoxicated.

She was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Sunday, police said.

Locals said the intersection is known for such troubling collisions.

“Every month, there’s an accident there — at least,” Kacper Kusnierz of Middle Island told Long Island News 12.

“For somebody to die … that’s tragic.”
