A 15-year-old Ohio boy has been charged with gunning down his abusive stepfather for beating up his mom.
Ronez Joyce is accused of shooting Levonte Hyde, 30, at least 12 times at a Cincinnati home early — just 30 minutes after Hyde attacked his mother, according to cops and court documents.
The teen was charged with murder because he “had time to find a firearm, open a safe, retrieve that firearm, and waited for the victim to arrive” before gunning him down, assistant prosecutor Tatyana Reintjes told an initial court hearing Friday, according to WLWT.
Joyce’s mom had filed a police report accusing Hyde of attacking her just before the deadly shooting, according to FOX 19.
Hyde — who is “co-natural parents of two children” with the teen’s mom — hit her “in the face with a closed fist several times, causing physical injury” while they were driving home from the store, court docs said.
Cops arrived at the house at around 12:30 a.m. where they found Hyde suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but later pronounced dead, police said.
The teen was arrested later that day. He denied the charges against him in court on Friday, where he was ordered held until the next hearing on March 3.
