A Colorado dentist was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his wife of 23 years by feeding her poisoned protein shakes over a 10-day period in March 2023.
James Craig, 47, was then promptly sentenced to life in prison in the chilling case in which prosecutors alleged the father of six gave one final, fatal dose of cyanide to his 43-year-old wife Angela Craig as she lay dying in the hospital.
Craig had been cheating on his wife for years, his own lawyers conceded – and prosecutors argued he hatched the murder plot to get out of his marriage.
Angela died days after the Mormon mom was hospitalized for a seizure.
She was found to have died from a fatal dose of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline – with investigators uncovering incriminating searches on Craig’s computer before his wife’s death.
The father had looked up whether arsenic was detectable in autopsies, and also ordered potassium cyanide from Amazon.com to his dental office just weeks before his wife’s death, NBC News reported.
“This is not a man who wants to get divorced,” said prosecutor Michael Mauro during the trial.
Craig also offed the mother of his children because he wanted her money – and didn’t want to be a divorcee, prosecutors argued.
His defense conceded that he’d been unfaithful for years – but argued Angela committed suicide because of it.
